Christian's birthday was so much fun. After several weeks of talking about his cowboy birthday, I think his little two-year-old mind was sure it would never actually come, but it did, and he was thrilled.
We started the day with presents from mom and dad. Christian was so much fun, now that he has figured out what birthdays and presents are all about.
We spent the rest of the day getting ready for Christian's birthday party. The new toys from that morning were very helpful in keeping him entertained, while I made cupcakes, put up decorations, and made the final party preparations.
It was the perfect day for an outdoor shindig. Good thing too, because our house would not have fit all of the people who came to support us, nor would it have been conducive to the real-life horse we invited to the party.
It took Christian a little while to warm up to Tammy the horse, but once he did, we couldn't get enough pictures of our cute cowboy enjoying his [temporary] birthday present.
While the horse was definitely fun, and made for some good pictures and great memories, I think Christian's favorite part of the party was simply playing with the kids. We have such fun friends!
With all of the excitement going on, I think I got on camera the only bite of dinner Christian had all night. Of course he did make up for the lack of nutrition with treats and cupcakes.
Christian got some really great gifts, and after every present he would say "open it?" After being told "Not quite yet" several times, he finally decided that if we weren't going to open his toys immediately, then he would just try on his new clothes instead.
We also made him give everyone thank you hugs...THEN we let him open his toys.
To finish the evening, Christian took dad on one last ride. This time, less afraid, and more confident in his cowboy skills.
Happy Birthday Buckaroo! We sure love you!
